Tommy “Tommy Joe” Bourgeois, 57, a native of St. Charles Community and a resident of Galliano, LA, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Melissa Ledet Bourgeois; sons, Faron Bourgeois (Tiffany), and Dallas Bourgeois (Dustin); grandchildren, Alexis Bourgeois (Omar), Jordan Bourgeois (Daylan), Cullen Bourgeois, and Brennen Bourgeois; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Bonilla and Colton Timberlake; twin brother, Anthony Bourgeois; sisters, Amanda Bergeron (David), and Cynthia Bourgeois Richterberg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeffery Bourgeois and Theresa Champagne.
A man of many passions, Tommy Joe enjoyed restoring Camaros, fishing with his grandchildren, working with his son, Faron. His love of the Dallas Cowboys inspired the naming of his son, Dallas. Tommy Joe also enjoyed cooking “Fugabo’s” (food) for his granddaughters. His specialties were his chicken noodle soup, gumbo, and stews. He was a talented musician and enjoyed playing guitar, drums, and singing. Those that knew him well will remember his joy in making people laugh.
Out of all his passions, the one that meant the most to him was being a grandfather to his grandchildren.
Tommy Joe was the root and rock of his family, and he will be dearly missed by those that knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, June 29th, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano from 9:00 am until service time. Mr. Tommy's Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am with procession following to his burial in Cheramie Cemetery.
