Russell Joseph Savoie

Russell J. Savoie, 80, a native of Golden Meadow, LA and a resident of Lockport, LA, went home to glory to meet his Savoir, Jesus Christ on October 12, 2026.

A graveside service will be 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at Holy Savior Cemetery, Lockport, LA.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years of marriage, Emma Lee Hartman Savoie; his children, Rochelle Savoie, Michelle Savoie Dufrene (Tim); his grandchildren, Savannah Plaisance and Luke Plaisance; his brothers, Bobby Savoie (Joyce), Jerry Savoie (Joan); his brothers-in-law, Clyde Hartman (Trudy), Nelson Dantin; his sisters-in-law, Anne Robichaux (Paul) and Ronell Savoie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysse Savoie and Jane O. Savoie; in-laws, Joseph Hartman and Rowena L. Hartman; brother, Ray Savoie (Beverly), Jackie Savoie; sisters, Eloise Hebert (Wisney), Katie Defelice (Daniel), Bea Dantin and an infant son, Mitch Savoie.

Russell was a tugboat captain in his early years, then owned a butcher shop for several years. He then went into the cattle business for many, many years. He worked hard and loved what he did.

He loved his children and grandchildren dearly, they meant the world to him.

He will be missed by his family and his many friends, especially his 3 buddies, Earlis Adams, Jr. Philip Gouaux and Jesse Loupe.
