Ray Anthony Pitre

Ray A. Pitre, 86, native of Raceland, LA and resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025.

Ray is survived by his daughters, Lisa P. Michelli (Gordon) and Lora A. Pitre; sons, Lane M. Pitre (Angie) and Lance M. Pitre; grandchildren, Gavin Michelli (Nichole), Kyle Michelli (Ashley), Ross Pitre (Megan), Allie Pitre (Andy), Miranda Pitre, Spencer Pitre; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy P. Boudreaux.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary Kathleen Oncale Pitre; parents, Nolan S. and Edla Babin Pitre; brothers, Hilton “Boy” Pitre, Murphy Pitre and sister, Jeanelle P. Griffin.

Ray was a band teacher for 38 years at Raceland Jr. High School. He was a proud member of The Lafourche Parish Retired Teachers Association, A.A.R.P., The La Music Teachers Association, Music Educators National Conference, District 7 Band Directors Association, Phi Nu Alpha, and The National Music Association.

The family would like to thank Senior Village Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Opelousas, for their care over the last three years.
