Penny Sue Guzman, age 63, of Von Ormy, Texas, passed away on April 19, 2026, after facing cognitive problems with courage and grace. She was born on April 17, 1963, in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Penny was known by those closest to her as loving, funny, and thoughtful. Her presence had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, and her kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Penny proudly served her country as a retired Air Force Master Sergeant, a role that reflected her discipline, dedication, and steadfast sense of duty. Her military career was a source of great pride, and she carried herself with the quiet strength and integrity that earned the respect of her fellow service members and loved ones alike. After her retirement, she continued to exemplify the same loyalty and commitment in her family life and in the many relationships she nurtured over the years.
Family was at the center of Penny’s life. She was preceded in death by her father, James Parks, her brother, Ricky Parks (Mitzi Parks), her in-laws, Charles and Florence Guzman, and her nephew, Cody Parks. She is survived by her husband, Charlie E. Guzman Jr.; her son, Joshua R. Guzman; and her daughter, Kaitlyn E. Guzman (Isaac Lopez). She also leaves behind her mother, Mary Jane Parks; her brother, Jeff Parks (Becky Parks); her brother, Tracy Parks (Amy Parks); her sister, Stacy Breaux (Kevin Breaux) and her sister-in-law, Valerie Guzman (Kevin Primeaux). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Julian Guzman, and Sophia L. Guzman. Penny also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, along with many other family members and friends who will cherish her memory always.
Penny found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in the moments that brought people together. She was a concert goer who enjoyed the energy, music, and shared experience of live performances. She also loved watching movies. These interests reflected her appreciation for laughter, connection, and the beauty of everyday enjoyment. Whether spending time with loved ones or simply sharing a conversation, Penny had a gift for making ordinary moments feel special.
Those who knew Penny will remember her for her loving heart, her quick wit, and her thoughtful nature. She had a way of offering comfort without needing many words and could bring a smile to others with her humor and gentle spirit. Her life was a testament to devotion, resilience, and care for others. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
Penny Sue Guzman will be remembered with love, respect, and gratitude for the many ways she touched the lives of those around her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her faith, kindness, and enduring love remain a lasting part of their lives.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Falgout Funeral Home, Raceland, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Raceland, LA.
The family will like to thank Jessica and Sara Oniveros, Kassandra and Tam Gonzalez, Melissa Davila-Johnson, Raymond and Emily Guzman, along with the Vitas Health Care team; Teresita Willoughby, Veronica Esquivel, Carolina Rodriguez, Morayo Adebisi, Amanda Grary, Ronald Laza, and Father Christopher.
