Norman worked hard and lived well. He had many jobs from ages 15-80, when he retired. He loved to work hard, teach young people and make each place better when he left. His jobs include: Latelco, Callais Refrigeration Services, Coastal Oil Production services, Danos & Curole, Electrician foreman at North American Shipbuilding and Project Manager for ECO, traveling to Fourchon, Houma, Gulfport, Tampa and his beloved Brazil.
Whether he was daddy, Papa Callais, paw paw, Mr. Norman, Norm, Uncle Norman or Nonc to you, he will always be remembered for his genuine smile and sparkling eyes, his intense love of family, his ability to make friends wherever he went, his passion for learning, his drive to always be “projecting”, his desire to travel to new and exciting places (you never go the way you came), his way of being positive and optimistic in any situation, his knack for finding a solution to any problem and especially his need to joke, prank and tell stories with the people he met along his life’s journey (insert ear wiggles!) his laughter was contagious. He loved food and he loved to eat, especially coffee (all day and night), avocados, fresh fruits, breakfast, fish and lunch meat sandwiches. He loved a good nap!
May we all live like papa Callais, never missing out on an adventure, always finding joy, always loving deeply and passionately. He will be missed and remembered.
Special thanks to Pam Cheramie, Denise Allemand and Tina Eymard; to the medical staff unit at Lady of the Sea General Hospital and entire LOSGH extended staff especially the rehab staff, ACG Hospice staff, Dr. Amanda Rogers and LOSMC, Cut Off, LA and Dr. Jamie Huddleston.
In lieu of flowers, go live your best life and take that wonderful adventure.
