Louise Plaisance Robichaux

Louise Plaisance Robichaux, 87, a native of Golden Meadow, a resident of Larose most of her adult life, and a recent resident of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

 Louise is survived by her children: Maureen Robichaux O’Brien and Barry (Maria) Robichaux; grandchildren: Andrew (Tinni) Robichaux, Michael (Jessica) O’Brien, Matthew (Kit) O’Brien, Ashley (Steve) Rysavy, and Alexis (Thomas) Robichaux; great-grandchildren: Sean Robichaux, Gail O’Brien, Henry Robichaux, Arlo O’Brien, Sophia Rysavy, Connor and Cameron Ruiz; and brother: Leo Plaisance.

 Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Roy Joseph Robichaux; parents: Leonce and Doredah Esponge Plaisance; and brother: Roy Plaisance. 

 Louise taught 30 years in the Lafourche Parish School System – almost all at Larose Elementary – and loved her students. In 1989, she was given 6 months to live due to breast cancer. Her faith made her believe she would beat cancer and she did, though it took a terrible toll on her. Louise wrote and shared her story with a few local hospitals to inspire others. She also spoke to those she knew had cancer to encourage them. She attended Camp Bluebird – an adult cancer camp – in Houma, LA, several years and was elected Camp Queen one year. Louise’s passion was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved sewing outfits for her family and playing with the kids when young. In her quiet time, she loved reading and praying, including reading the Bible 7 times.

 Visitation will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Holy Rosary Church in Larose, LA, from 9:15 am until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial following in the Church Cemetery.
