Kate Rivet Guillot, age 90, a resident of Raceland, LA, passed away on November 16, 2025, surrounded by family. Kate was born on July 4, 1935, in New Orleans, LA.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Kate is survived by her sons, Melvin Jr, Michael, Mark (Angela), Mitch (Robin) and daughter, Kathy G. Matherne, along with 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Kate is also survived by her brother, Landry Rivet (Emelda) and sister, Barbara Rivet, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Melvin Guillot, Sr., parents, Merna and Henry F. Rivet, brother, Henry A. Rivet, sister, Merna Blanchard, grandson, Matthew Guillot, daughter-in-law, Cynthia Guillot and son-in-law, Kevin Matherne.
Kate graduated from Holy Savior High School and lived in Lafourche parish most of her life. She was employed in several industries including retail sales, food services, maritime, and medical services. She was a dedicated homemaker and a passionate reader of books.
Maw Kate, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, loved spending time with her family and always shared fond memories of past adventures and her encyclopedic knowledge of TV westerns and mystery shows. Her loss will be deeply felt by all her family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any organization supporting cancer research.
Though Kate is no longer with us in person, her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in our hearts forever.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church located at 333 Twin Oaks Dr, Raceland, LA. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Kate's life and share memories together. Date and service times are pending.
