Joseph "Crip" Frederick Cortez, 70, a native of Des Allemands and resident of Raceland, died Friday at 1:52 p.m.
Vistation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Des Allemands Baptist Church with burial to follow at Mennonite Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Berdine Cortez; three sons, Michael Valenti, William Cortez, Frederick Cortez and companion Mary Larousse; three brothers, Bert Cortez and wife Beverly, Malcolm Cortez and wife Karen and Gary Cortez; three sisters, Deanna Cologne, Linda Chapman and husband Richard and Sallie Schutz; five grandchildren, Priscilla Scott, William Cortez Jr., Julia Kaye Adams, Victoria Larousse and Hanna Mae Cortez; and one great grandchild, Kayla Cortez.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Julia Mae Cortez; his parents, Frederick Cortez Sr. and Gertrude M. Cortez; one daughter, Lisa Cortez Adams and two sisters, Gail Guidry and Judy Bryant.
Falgout Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
