Jessie Paul Estay, 69, a native and resident of Larose, Louisiana passed peacefully at home on July 21, 2025 surrounded by his family. A memorial visitation will be held in his honor on Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose, Louisiana. A celebration of his life mass will follow the visitation.
Jessie was a man with boundless generosity—a man who enjoyed sharing his knowledge, talents, and his fish. His heart was as vast and open as the waters he loved to fish. Jessie always found joy in the small, meaningful moments of life, especially when children were included.
As a Cajun, Jessie learned early the values of hard work and humility. He spent most of his life working with his hands—fixing, building, hunting, fishing, cooking. His work ethic was not just something to admire; it was something you could feel in everything he touched. He had a successful 30 year career as a tugboat captain.
Jessie was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving Paw Jess, a special Uncle Bubba, and a loyal friend. His family was his greatest love. Jessie is survived by his dedicated wife of 39 years, Lorry Cheramie Estay, son Justin Estay and wife Amy, daughter Jessica Estay-Stokes and husband Elliott, granddaughters Jena Estay and Ruby Rose Stokes, step grandsons Broddie Rogers and wife Nadia, Jeremy Rogers, and step great grandchildren Brielle, Gemma, Bravyn, and Elora Rogers.
Jessie was preceded in death by his parents Napoleon and Earline Matherne Estay, grandparents Tony and Flossie Plaisance Matherne and Lionel and Mercedes Plaisance Estay, son London Estay, step grandson Corey Rogers, and brother, Jerry Estay.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
