Jerry D. Matherne, 88, a native and resident of Des Allemands, LA, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, September 14, 2026 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Paradis, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am with burial to follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Des Allemands, LA.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria T. Matherne; daughters, Gaynell Dufrene (Tim) and Amy Sampey (Troy); son, Farley Matherne (Rhona); grandchildren, Derek Sampey, Mandy McVay, Justin Dufrene, Reice Matherne and Chase Matherne; great grandchildren, Tate Sampey, Sawyer Sampey, Mason McVay, Emery McVay, Rylee Dufrene, Rosina Matherne and a boy on the way; brother, Robert “Bob” Matherne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aramise and Regina Matherne; brothers, James Tregre, Harry Matherne and sisters, Rosalie Chouest and Genevieve Rodrigue.
Jerry was Chairman of the first 15 Catfish Festivals and enjoyed playing softball.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
