Jaqueline D Cheramie

Jacqueline Dufrene Cheramie,87, of Galliano, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on April 10,2026 surrounded by her loving family in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she lived the later part of her life. 

"Jackie" was born on December 8, 1938 in Lockport, Louisiana where she grew up and attended school. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Raleigh (Bason), she moved to Galliano, Louisiana where she spent most of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to cook for our families, especially her delicious Cajun dishes. 

Mamaw Jackie is survived by her children Ramona Cheramie Carlin (Jay), Judy Cheramie Dawes (Rick), Laura Cheramie Griffin, Curtis Cheramie (Maureen) and Karen Cheramie Quimby (Bill), 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and one brother James Dufrene. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Raleigh (Bason) Joseph Cheramie, her son Milton Joseph Cheramie, grandson Braden Cheramie, and son-in-law Dean Griffin. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attended funeral services on Friday, April 17th, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17980 W Main Street, Galliano, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM - 11:00AM with a Mass to follow. Interment will follow at Cheramie Cemetery, 111th Street HWY 308, Galliano, Louisiana.
