Vallie Janice Rimmer Cooley was born to John and Pearlie Rimmer on April 12, 1933, in Guy Arkansas. On July 4, 2025, at 92 years of age, she arrived at her Heavenly home. She was a loving, kind, supportive, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and great grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 67 years Alfred Eugene Cooley, brother WJ Rimmer and wife Mary Ruth, Eulon Rimmer and wife Margie, Roland Rimmer and wife Jane, Sister Irene Fielder and husband Bobby. Mother and father-in-law Phillip and Viola Cooley, brother-in-law Owen G. and wife Iris, sister-in-law Grace E. McLean and husband Tommy
She is survived by her sister Franz Horton, daughter Debbie C. Cook and husband David, sons Bruce D. Cooley and wife Cydne and John P. Cooley and wife Dana; grandchildren Sara Stone and husband Geoff, Jake Cook and wife Helen, Adam Cook and fiancé Amiee Soileau, Austin Cooley, Camille Pagen and husband Kyle, John Phillip Cooley Jr. and Blake Cooley; and 9 great grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Arkansas State Teachers and LSU with a master’s degree, and specialty degrees from Nichols. She was a retired schoolteacher who taught in East Baton Rouge Parish and Terrebonne Parish. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Houma (now Covenant Church). She loved singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, mission work, and enjoyed being a part of the church family. She loved visiting family, and friends, volunteer work, traveling, fishing, playing dominoes and watching all sports especially football and baseball.
