James Candies, Jr.

James "Shorty" Candies Jr., 74, a native of Des Allemands and resident of Amite, died at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Falgout Funeral Home, 3838 La. 1 in Raceland. Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with interment at Mennonite Cemetery in Des Allemands.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Lilly Candies; children, Timothy "Tim" Candies and wife, Kim, Garret Candies and wife, Pam, Darid Candies and wife, Shanon, and Davlynn Candies Coriell and husband, Bob; brother, Marshall Candies; and eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Jimmy" Candies Sr. and Doris St. Amant Candies; and sister, Elnora Candies Cornwell.
