Helen Chiasson Doucet, born on June 6, 1938, in Thibodaux, Louisiana, and a resident of Golden Meadow, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, in Houston, Texas. She was 87 years old. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Linton Doucet. Their marriage spanned 65 years and was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together they built a family rooted in compassion and strength. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Mark Doucet (Anne), Gene Doucet (Thom), Elizabeth Doucet Reagan, (Cary), and Roxanne Doucet Bruce (Nathan). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Kelly Doucet Alario (Jason), Ethan Bruce, and Jonathan Bruce—and great-grandchildren Matthew Alario and Evan Alario. Helen also leaves behind her brother Junius Chiasson (Shirley), who shared in many cherished family memories. She was preceded in death by her husband Linton Doucet; her son Kim Doucet; her parents Harry Chiasson and Odette Benoit Chiasson; her sister Nessie Chiasson Thibodaux; and brothers Larry Chiasson and Jeffrey Chiasson. Helen found joy in the simple beauty of nature. She had a deep love for bird watching and took great pride in her garden, especially tending to her roses, gardenias, and bird of paradise plants. Her green thumb brought color and life to every space she touched. A devout Catholic throughout her life, Helen was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Golden Meadow, Louisiana, and later St. James Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. Her faith was a guiding light that shaped her generous spirit. Helen was a Eucharistic Minister for OLPS, and assisted with ministering communion to the elderly, and interpreting French to the pastor. Through the Bereavement Group, she also assisted in cooking meals for the unfortunate, and those home bound. Those who knew Helen will remember her radiant smile that could brighten any room. She brought joy to those around her with a heart full of kindness and an unwavering willingness to help others. One of the biggest accomplishments was her support and assistance in the creation and upkeep of the Veterans Memorial. This was a vision of her husband, Linton Doucet, and Helen was a big part of seeing it through its creation. May Helen’s memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were blessed to know her. A Funeral Mass will be held on August 9, 2025, with family visitation from 09:00 AM to 9:30 AM, friends of the family from 9:30 to 11:30 AM, followed by mass at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 723 N Bayou Drive, Golden Meadow, LA.
