Gregory David Staszak

Gregory David Staszak, 80, a native of Chicago, IL and a resident of Raceland, LA, passed away on Thursday, July 9th, 2026.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Diane Mackler Staszak; son, Christopher (Jamie) Staszak; daughter, Amy (Byron) O’Neal; grandchildren, Lauren (Nick) Adams, Bailey Staszak (Cain Hall), Hannah Staszak, Colin O’Neal, and Christopher Staszak Jr; great-grandchildren, Eddie Hall, Elaina Hall, Tucker Adams, and Estella Adams; and sister, Kathy Korzun.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Staszak and Irene Budnik Staszak; and his brother-in-law, Bill Korzun.

As a career sailor, he proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy. He retired after twenty seven years as a Senior Chief Petty Officer.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, golf, and raising chickens. He was a man of faith with great love for God, family and country.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16th at St Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland from 10:00 am until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
