Geraldine Ledet Smith

Geraldine Ledet Smith, 87, a native of Larose, LA and resident of Galliano, LA, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2026.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, Larose, LA. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth Smith; children, Bonnie Smith Boulton (Ross), David Smith, Brian Smith, Frank Smith, Christopher Smith, Gregory Smith (Donna) and Eva Smith; grandchildren, Shay Picou, Dante Picou (Niki), Taylor Smith; great grandchildren, Knox Showalter, Lola McIntosh, Ella Picou and Raymond McIntosh V; brothers, Howard Ledet Jr., Michael Ledet and sisters, Evelyn Ledet Adams and Donna Ledet Bruce.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Ledet Sr. and Estelle Bourgeois Ledet.

St. Francis of Assisi was her favorite saint. His humility, gentleness, and love for God’s creation reflected the quite strength she carried throughout her life. For 87 years, she walked by faith. She trusted God in the ordinary days and in the difficult ones. She prayed, she loved, she persevered. Today we grieve – but not without hope. The same Lord she trusted in life now welcomes her home. “Well done, good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of your Master.” May that promise bring comfort to all who loved her.
