Freddie Joseph Matherne

Freddie J. Matherne, 89, a native of Bayou Gauche, LA and a resident of Pointe aux Chênes, LA, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 11:30 am at Holy Savior Little Church in Lockport, LA, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Matherne; first wife, Annie Joyce Matherne; son, René Matherne (Cheryl); daughters, Debra Matherne and Gretchen Matherne; grandchildren; Alexis Adams, Brandon Adams (Anita), Erica Brehm (Robert) and Micheal Matherne; great granddaughter, Aubrey Adams; brother, Arthur Matherne, Jr. (Cathy); sister, Tillie Clark and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his, parents, Arthur Matherne, Sr. and Elnora Matherne; brother, Louis Matherne; and sisters, Lula Mae Riviere, Juanita Galloway and Henrietta “Deannie” Matherne.

Freddie enjoyed shrimping and feeding birds every morning and afternoon. He was a U.S. National Guard veteran.
