Edelio Basulito

Edelio Ramon Basulito, Sr., 80, a native of Havana, Cuba, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026. He was born on October 20, 1945.

In 1962, Edelio left Cuba by boat, traveling first to Jamaica, then to Miami, and eventually making his way to New Orleans. He later settled in Golden Meadow, Louisiana, where he built a life centered around his family and the things he loved most.

Edelio is survived by his children, Romanda (Buddy), Sidonia (Bryan), Edelio “T-Ed,” Manuel, and Morgan; his grandchildren, Joey, Ryan (MeKhail), Jacob, Payton (Victoria), Nicholas, Ticy, Trent (Brie), Bryant (Emilie), Cassie (Breydan), Kobie (Derica), Jryce, Byron, and Avria; and his great-grandchildren, Cade, Ayden, Cruz, Aubrie, Landon, Elijah, Myiah, Sage, Aveline, Laken, Eddilynn, Kolson, Oaklynn, Suede, Riverley, Fredo, and one great-grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Allie M. Guidry and River Hunter, and his parents.

To his children, he was Dad or Ray. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was Poppie. To his friends, he was Raymond. No matter what name they called him, he was deeply loved.

Edelio enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Above all, he loved his family more than anything. His presence, love, and memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and he will be dearly missed.

The family of Edelio would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hope Hospice, Legacy Nursing Home, and Mandy Gisclair for their care, compassion, and kindness during his time of need.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.
