MATHERNE
Don Gerard Matherne Sr., 75, a native of Raceland and a resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026.
Don is survived by his son, Don Matherne Jr.; granddaughter, Alexis Richard; great-granddaughter, Rose Richard; sisters, Janice Matherne, Faye Granier (Irvin), Peggy Frickey (Charles), Maude Ivey (Buddy), Catherine M. Breaux, Trudy Granier (David); and brother, Derace Matherne (Amy).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ardon Matherne and Rita Schaubhut Matherne; and his sister, Rose Matherne Frickey (Ronald).
Don lived life on his own terms, and never apologized for it. All the local children looked up to him, and the whole town referred to him as “Uncle Don”.
A graveside service will be held by the family at a later date.
