Darrel Joseph Mathieu, Sr.

Darrel Joseph Mathieu, Sr., 89, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Raceland, passed away on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024. A visitation will be held at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland on Saturday, November 30th at 9:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.

Mr. Mathieu is survived by his companion, Joyce M. Hampton; sons, Darrell “Butch” Mathieu Jr. and Royal Veal Sr.; daughters, Darrellyn “Mandy” McDowell, Darnell Mathieu, Mary Gail Cameron, Paulette Veal, Bernadette Mathieu, Michelle Johnson (Ivan), Deanna Mathieu, and Darrellynn Mathieu; brother, Tony White; sister, Bernadette Nicholas; godchild, Zernell Mercadel Burrel; devoted friend, Joseph Perio; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Mathieu; parents, Albert Mathieu Sr. and Pauline Payne Joseph; son, Darrell Brown Mathieu; brothers, Thomas Mathieu and Albert Mathieu Jr.; and sister, Pauline Mercadel.

Mr. Mathieu was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and worked as a longshore seaman. His memory will be kept alive in the hearts of those that knew him.
