Daria A. Thomassie

August 24, 1941 — January 24, 2026

Larose

Daria Amedee Thomassie, 84, a native of Houma and a longtime resident of Larose, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 24, 1941, Daria was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished friend to many. She celebrated 62 beautiful years of marriage with her loving husband, Roland, building a life centered on faith, family, and education.

Daria was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and Nicholls State University and earned a master’s degree from the University of Mississippi. For 33 years, she dedicated herself to teaching at LCO and South Lafourche High School, touching countless lives through her commitment to education. Her love of service extended far beyond the classroom.

She was deeply involved in her church community, serving as a member of the Ladies Altar Society, the Ladies KC Auxiliary, and the Holy Name Society. She also served faithfully as a Eucharistic minister and lector, sharing her faith through word and action. Her presence was a constant at Holy Rosary Church and school events, where her helping hands and generous spirit could always be found.

Daria volunteered extensively throughout the community, giving freely of her time and talents. Wherever there was a need, she stepped forward quietly, never seeking recognition, but always hoping to make a difference. Through her dedication to education, she served as a student teacher mentor—a reflection of her passion for teaching and her desire to guide those who would follow in her footsteps.

Her legacy is one of service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others. She taught, she served, and she loved deeply—and her impact will continue to be felt in the lives she touched and the community she helped build.

Daria is survived by her loving family: her husband Roland, her daughter Monique T. Martin (Stephen Sr.); sons Garret P. Thomassie (Michelle) and Ryan G. Thomassie (late Tippy); grandchildren Kristen Martin, Ashley M. Hebert (Jordan), Stephen Martin Jr. (Erica), Blaise Thomassie, and Bailey Thomassie, and great-grandchildren Blair, Grayson, and London Hebert, and Karlyn Martin; sister Marjorie A. Verret (late Charles) and brother Dr. Ron Amedee (Dr. Elisabeth). She is preceded in death by her parents Clemsy (C.J.) Amedee and Marjorie Perret Amedee.
