Corabelle Cornwell Cortez, 96, a native of Bessemer, AL and a resident of Des Allemands, LA, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023.
Graveside services will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Des Allemands, LA.
She is survived by her sons, Donald Cortez, Ronald “Joe” Cortez, Ferdie Cortez (Jessica), Alfred “Kruzer” Cortez (Claudia); grandchildren, Kasi, Ryan (Annette), Tara (Dale), Heather (Josh), Aaron (Erika), Lauren (Bart), Corey, Courtney and Dylan (Charlee) and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Cortez, Sr.; daughter, Bessie Candies Griffin; daughter-in-law, Sandra Cortez; granddaughter, Cory; parents, Grover and Bessie Cornwell; brothers, John, Charles Sr., Grover and Roy Cornwell; sisters, Bertha Coshatt, Marguerite Stephens and Sarah Roberts.
Corabelle was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and was a seamstress. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
