Claude Joseph Davaine, 77, a native and resident of Gheens, LA, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
A visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gheens, on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, from 9:00AM until the service time. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Holy Savior cemetery in Lockport.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlene Dominique Davaine; daughters, Claudette Baye (Lance) and Celeste Battaglia (Jeff); grandchildren, Alyssa and Anthony Battaglia, Brenna, Braden and Brooke Baye; brothers, Edward Davaine Jr., Emile Davaine, Ives Davaine, Nolan Davaine, Norman Davaine, Edwin Davaine and sister, Helen Davaine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Davaine Sr. and Irene Ledet Davaine and brother, Ernest Davaine.
He was a kind man that never turned down a helping hand to anyone in need. He helped with various church and community projects, including cooking many meals with the Gheens Needy Organization. Claude was a man of deep faith and was an alter server at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gheens.
His true passion was his family. He was especially devoted to his wife, two daughters, and grandchildren. Beyond his family, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. If you didn’t see him in the garden, he was most likely fishing.
