With heavy hearts and grateful souls, we remember the life of Charles Joseph Griffin, a native of Golden Meadow, LA, and a resident of Cut Off, LA, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25th, 2025, at the age 91 surrounded by the love of his family. He was a man full of joy, laughter, and boundless warmth—a light in the lives of all who knew him.

Charles was the kind of person who made the world feel a little softer, a little kinder. He had a deep love for building pirogues, carefully shaping each one with his hands and heart, preserving a tradition that brought him peace and pride. He also found great joy in playing the guitar, often filling the air with music that reflected his gentle soul and playful spirit.
But above all else, Charles loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a joyful grandfather. Time with his family was his greatest treasure, and his legacy will live on in the stories, traditions, and songs passed down through generations.
In his final days, Charles told us he wanted his time on earth to be remembered as The Griffin Era—a joyful chapter marked by love, laughter, and, most of all, The Ice Cream Man. It was his way of reminding us that life is sweetest when shared with others, one scoop and one smile at a time. His loyal dog and protector Cleo will surely miss him dearly—her constant companion, her favorite person, and the one who always slipped her an extra treat (especially toast bread) when no one was looking.
To honor Charles’ memory, family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano on Saturday, May 31st, 2025 from 9:00 A.M. until service time and to join in a celebration of his life at 1:00 P.M. The burial will follow in Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano, LA.
