Carol G. Trant, 90, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 12, 2025. Born on March 20, 1935, Carol was the daughter of the late Etite F. and Julia G. Guidry. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of nearly 53 years, James E. Trant; her sister, Patsy G. Zeringue; her brother, Gerald A. Guidry; niece, Deborah Guidry Caballero; and nephew, Anthony Guidry.
She is survived by her cherished son and daughter-in-law, James Michael “Jim” Trant, Sr. and Angela Jones; her treasured grandchildren, James Michael “Michael” Trant, Jr. (Jennifer), Brennon Trant (Jillian), Ian Trant, Christopher Reed, Alys Reed (Maksim), and Tia Landry; and her adored great-grandchildren, Georgia Lee Trant, Valerie James Trant, Anala Reed, Caden Reed, Destinée Drew (Ryan), and Baylee Pardue. Carol was blessed to also meet her great-great-grandchild, Parker Drew.
She leaves behind her niece, Bonnie Z. Franklin; nephews, Steve Zeringue, Jarvis Guidry, Roger Guidry, and Jerry Guidry; and countless extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Carol dedicated her professional life to educating the children of Lafourche Parish, spending most of her career at Raceland Upper Elementary. Known to generations as “Mrs. Trant”, she was deeply admired and respected by colleagues and students alike, who delighted in greeting her whenever they met in the community. Following her retirement from teaching, Carol continued her lifelong work ethic, assisting her niece Bonnie in her accounting and bookkeeping practice for more than thirty years.
She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—trips to the Gulf Coast casinos, attending retiree gatherings, and supporting her family with their many endeavors (musical and otherwise) in every way she could. Her two favorite indulgences were chocolate and roses, a theme joyfully celebrated at her 90th birthday with family, colleagues, and friends. Her favorite colors were blue and green, and all are invited to honor her memory by wearing these colors to her visitation and funeral.
Carol’s family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Amy Foret, Darlene Foret, Brandy Luke, and Brenda Robichaux, whose compassion and dedication brought comfort in her final months. They also wish to express very special gratitude to the Thibodaux Regional Medical Center CCU staff and the Second Floor staff for their exceptional care.
Carol’s legacy is one of love, kindness, dedication, and unwavering support for her family and community. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
