Bobby Joseph Ponville, 81, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Larose, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2026.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Verna Bourg Ponville; daughters, Bobbie Jo Crosby (Ted) and Dena Baudoin (Donald); brother, Timmy Ponville; sisters, Peggy Terrebonne (Dalton) and Debra Thibodaux (Perry); grandchildren, Jerica, Candy (Cody), Jadan (Cierra), and Jacee (Kyle); great-grandchildren, Cullen, Ezra, Myiah, Haisley, Emery, Karter, Isabella, Roman; and step great-grandchildren, Marijain, and Noah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Annabelle Ponville.
Bobby was a hard worker. He was proud of his career in the oil field, working on both offshore and inland rigs. He took great pride in making sure his family was well taken care of.
Bobby never met a stranger. He was what some people would call an “old soul”. Even as a child, he had an affinity for people, especially older people, and was always quick to help anyone who needed it.
His love for people also led to his love for music and dancing, because it was also a way for him to socialize.
Bobby was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church and served in the Arimathean Society. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.Hehhhhh
Bobby loved spending time with his family. Holding his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as babies and being a part of their lives was one of his greatest joys.
Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of The Broadway Elder Care for the tender care they gave to Bobby.
