Beatrice Matherne Barbier

Beatrice Matherne Barbier, 87, a native and resident of Des Allemands, LA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2026.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Paradis, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm with burial to follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Des Allemands, LA.

She is survived by her son, Gerald Barbier, Jr. (Monique); daughters, Donna Dejoie (Andre) and Nicole Breaux (Terry); grandchildren, Travis Sequeira (Shannon); Haley Allison (Taylor), Dylan Sequeira, Stephen Maldonado, Evan Barbier (Caitlyn), Matthew Barbier (Sydney), Ryan Barbier (Emma); step grandchildren, Andre Dejoie, Jr., Courtney Welch (Jack) and Morgane Dejoie; great grandchildren, McKenna, Luke, Noah, Lily, Ella Rose, Anna James, Wyatt and Avery Claire; brother, Morris “Bucky” Matherne, Jr.; sisters, Geraldine Mahan, Sandra Yokum and Deborah Daigle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Barbier, Sr.; parents, Morris Matherne, Sr. and Alta Hogan Matherne; brothers, Charles Matherne, Lynn “Boz” Hogan and Roy Hogan; sisters, Betty Dufrene, Rosalie Beadle and Faye Powell.

Beatrice was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all.
