Aurelien Victor "A.J." Tassin, Jr.

Aurelien Victor "A.J." Tassin, Jr., 87, of Luling, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026 at his home surrounded by family. A.J. was born on February 4, 1939 in LaPlace, Louisiana to the late Aurelien Victor Tassin, Sr. and Rosalie Tamburello Tassin.

A.J. is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Jeanette Tastet Tassin and two children Tammie Tassin Myers (Eric Smith) and Anthony Tassin (Lori); four grandchildren, Brandon Myers (Amanda), Jeremy Myers (Holly), Hayden Tassin (Hope) & Hayley Tassin (Corbyn Belgard); five great-grandchildren Colby & Derek Myers and Paisley, Addison & Parker Tassin; sisters Joanne Caronna, Diann Tassin & Debra Waguespack (Stephen) and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Phillip and Kenneth Tassin, and son-in-law Jimmy Myers.

A.J. grew up with a strong work ethic that shaped his entire life. He married Jeanette in 1960 and together they built a home filled with family, warmth and laughter. He retired after a 30‑year career as shift supervisor with Shell Chemical in Taft. Then the two enjoyed traveling the country. For years, their camper was like a second home and their camping friends were like family. A.J. enjoyed L.S.U. Tigers baseball and football, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for his quick wit and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

The family would like to thank Peggy Stovall with Compassus, Kaitlin and the staff with Southern Comfort Caregivers, Deacon Kevin Robicheaux, Bro. Eric Dishongh, as well as the many prayers offered by our church families at St. Anthony Catholic Church of Luling, St. Joseph Catholic Church of Brazoria, TX and Hickory Knoll Church of Christ of Harahan.

Funeral service will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 24, 2026 with 11:00 am Mass to follow at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 234 Angus Drive, Luling. Visitation begins at 9:00 am until start of service. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery under the direction of Falgout Funeral Home, with a reception at the church community center to follow the burial.
