Oscar Howard Savoie, 97, a World War II veteran fought his last battle on earth on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 and is now reaping his reward from his Lord in Heaven.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Life Fellowship Church, Bayou Gauche, LA. Religious services will be at 11:00 am with burial to follow in Sunset Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Lillian Dufrene Savoie, one sister, Dorothy Breaux; one son, Richard Savoie (Celeste), four grandchildren, Regina Rodrigue Guillot (Harry), Ramona Rodrigue (Reggie), Chris Savoie (Jennifer) and Mandy Savoie; three great grandchildren, Kimberly Benoit, Savanah Gaudet, Amber Caillouet and one great- great grandchild, Grace Benoit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Joseph Savoie Jr. and Mabel Bergeron, one brother, Joseph Savoie, one son, Tildon Savoie; one daughter, Rosalie Rodrigue and one brother-in-law, Arthur Breaux.
He was born in Lockport and was a life-long resident of Bayou Gauche, LA. Early in life he was the Manager of the Monteleone Family Hunting & Fishing Camp, then Manager of Simoneaux’s Hunting & Fishing Club. He later retired from Farmers Export Grain Elevator. He was a lifelong fisherman, hunter, trapper, turtle farmer and an avid gardener of which he always shared the blessings bestowed upon him and his family to his friends and community. A very humble, loving, giving, faithful man who will live on in our heats forever.
